I was just recently in Krakow, Poland for a week (due to work) and I could not believe that I will be able to go there. Great thanks to my employer who sent me there, I was finally able to have my first trip in Europe.
I have tons of photos and blog posts to consider but probably let me begin my review of the first hotel I stayed, Novotel Centrum.
Novotel is a global hotel chain and already has a good reputation globally. This was one of the reasons why I decided to have my first night here. The reception staff are able to speak in English so it’s communicating is not a problem. The hotel is just a few blocks away from the Old Town, where the touristy Main Square is, and it’s adjacent to the Wawel Castle. The entire Novotel building is not too high (I think it only has 6 / 7 storeys).
I was initially booked in a Superior room but for some reason I was told that I was upgraded to an Excecutive Room. The main difference between the two is that it has an Ipod docking station, coffee machine (Nespresso), bathrobe and slippers. Since I was alone, I tried to dock my Ipod to play louder music but I think it’s not working. I didn’t bother to report it but anyway, I just had my Ipod on loud speaker. 🙂 I really liked the Nespresso machine. I couldn’t really read the Polish names of coffee so I just relied on the images that indicate how strong or mild the coffee is.
Other amenities include hair dryer, iron board and iron steam, safety deposit box, free internet access (they will give you 1 password per device).
The lube and shower room are combined. They are very clean and simple which I really like. This doesn’t have the bath tub, which is very much ok with me because I don’t really use it.
My rooom had a great view of the Wawel Castle and I was really excited to go there. I just had a little bit of rest and freshened up before I went to the castle.
Elevator lobby at that 6th floor (where my room is)
Their room rates differ and I suggest you do a mock booking in their website. Their room rates already include the breakfast buffet. I would say that they have good breakfast bufffet. They serve hams, sausages, eggs, cereals, fruits, yogurt, salad, etc.
Should you want to splurge a little while in Krakow. I suggest you try Novotel. By the way, there are 2 Novotels in Krakow. One of which is located near the airport while the one I stayed is near the tourist area. Here are their details:
