Philippine Tourism’s Performance for First Quarter of 2009

How do you think was the Philippine tourism’s performance during the first quarter (January-March) of 2009?  The Department of Tourism released its quarterly report for us to know what our tourism industry is coping with the amidst the changes in the global environment.

Expansion and Creation of New Hotels and Resorts Mean More Employment

A total of 1,231 rooms were opened which employed 1,286 people. The total cost of those new rooms built were Php 8.016 Billion. The major tourist spots in the Philippines expanded their room supplies and facilities. These resorts were Imperial Palace Water Park, Resort and Spa (Cebu; opened 2009) , San Remigio Beach Club (Cebu),  Shangri-la (Boracay), Amanpulo Tourism Enterprise Zone (Palawan). Some hotels in Manila expanded too such as Legend International’s Park, Bed and Breakfast Hotel, Eurotel Hotel Branch in Makati, and Oakwood Serviced Residences.
