They say that spontaneous trips are the best and I’m filing this under the said category. Because my sister bought hiking shoes, she’s very eager to try it. Hence, she asked me and Sha to go and climb Pico de Loro with her high school buddy, Alvin.

To be honest, I’ve never been to any festival or fiesta in my entire life. Yes, yes, what a loser of me but that’s the reality. I’ve always wanted to experience going to a fiesta because I know that in Philippine culture, this is one of the events that many Filipinos (and even foreigners) anticipate. So when the opportunity came from Samsung, I immediately agreed to be part of their group to test their cameras during the Pahiyas Festival.
Lignon Hill (pronounced as Liñon or /li-NYON/) is located near Legazpi Airport. The hill stands at 156 meters (511 feet) tall and has best view of Mayon Volcano and the whole Albay. It is best to go there in the morning if you want to see Mayon Volcano without the clouds. When it’s in the afternoon, the clouds tend to cover the volcano. It is also good to go there during the late afternoons up to evenings so that you can see the sunset and the lights of Albay.
If you’re going to the Bicol region, most especially Legazpi City, Albay, you should not miss the majestic Mayon Volcano. The volcano is famous for its perfect cone. Actually, you can see Mayon wherever you are in Albay. Last month, we were in Legazpi City and the moment we went down the airplane, the Mayon Volcano can already be seen. We arrived at 7:30 in the morning and at that time, it was too cloudy so only half of the volcano was in sight.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that the majestic volcano in Bicol region, the Mayon Volcano, is showing some activities that may lead to another eruption. PHILVOLCS might raise the alert level based on the studies that they are doing.
The crater of the volcano shows smoke that can be seen by the naked eye meaning there are magma activity going on.
The volcano’s last eruption was July – August of 2006. No casualties were reported then.
Taal Volcano is between Talisay and San Nicolas, Batangas. The volcano can be viewed while you’re in Tagaytay, Cavite but it would be best to take a closer look at the crater of it and appreciate its beauty.
Going to the Taal Volcano crater would not require you to travel that long. We were from Tagaytay City and one of the tricycle drivers there offered us if we would like to have trek in Taal Volcano. Because we wanted to experience something new, we immediately agreed to be picked up from Estancia Hotel at 7 am.
